Vibram Open Skills Challenge - Wednesday, August 21st
Come watch the best players in the world compete in the 2nd Annual Vibram Open Skills Challenge. Teams of three people will be competing to advance to the VO Skills Championship. Here's how it will work:
Noon to 4:00 PM: Get your three person team together and compete to be one of the two play in teams. Top two team points are in. $30 per team.
Starting at 4:00, the head to head bracket begins (note: the bracket to the right was randomly assigned - no way am I ranking these folks! :-) Each head to head match up consists of nine battles. The first team to win five battles advances to the next round.
Part 1: Driving Battle - Each player gets four shots from the white tee on Hole 18 at Maple Hill. The five closest discs (to the pin) earn points - winner is the player with more points. (Closest disc: 5 pts, 2nd closest, 4 pts, ..., 5th closest, 1 point.)
Part 2: Approaching Battle - Each player gets four shots from the approach line (about 280' onto the island green of hole 18 at Maple Hill). The five closest discs earn points - winner is the player with more points. (Closest disc: 5 pts, 2nd closest, 4 pts, ..., 5th closest, 1 point.)
Part 3: Putting Battle - Each player gets two putts from each of the three stations (20', 35', 50') and two putts from the station of their choice. Losing player putts first each of the four rounds. Made putts count as 2, 4 and 6 points respectively. Metal hits count as 1, 2 and 3 points respectively - pole counts as metal.
Note: Teams listed below are made up by me. Actual teams TBD.
